"It's easy to make, too!" Annie says as she melts some sugar in her tiny microwave, then pours it over the popcorn. It...doesn't completely ruin the batch, anyway.
Sugar and popcorn are all that Hope needs, she doesn't exactly have high standards for what counts as 'ruined'.
Hope connects a final wire and brushes off her gloves. "Almost finished. I've had to mess with the plug a bit so be careful not to step on the lines but otherwise it should work. Tell me if there's a loud vibration." Loud for Annie, anyway, even if not for Hope.
She sits back on her heels, searching in another pouch before pulling out a can. "This might be able to help with the smell, if it doesn't I can probably calibrate it for your senses." Laurie had called it 'future air freshener', which Hope considers not entirely accurate, seeing as she'd put it together in the present, but far more accurate than 'present' air fresheners which put out a scent. It works to make the air fresh and free of outside scents or, at least, it had worked that way for Teon's senses.
It's almost like the sound that comes the day before a storm, Annie thinks. It's present and she can't quite tune it out, but it's not disruptive. "I hear it," she nods. But more importantly, her expression brightens. "I smell way fewer cats already."
"Good," she sits back in satisfaction. "Teon -" She pauses, growing more serious. "Have I ever told you about the Lights?" It's not a subject she brings up often or easily but Annie is important to her.
